Description of the Professorship

The primary research areas of Prof. Dr. Lena Kästner are philosophy of mind and philosophy of science, especially philosophy of cognitive science. She specializes in scientific explanations (particularly explanations of cognitive phenomena), causation, and scientific discovery and experimentation. Currently, she is focusing on cognitive architectures in natural and artificially intelligent systems. She is particularly interested in psychopathology, machine learning models and explainable AI (XAI).
